Public Skating Starts This Week at all DCR Rinks

By Liz Taurasi

Thanksgiving week not only marks the official start of the holiday season, but also brings ice skating to cities and towns across the commonwealth.

Public skating begins at all Department of Conservation and Recreation rinks on Wednesday, Nov. 27. There are 42 DCR rinks across the state, and this year many are expected to have more public skating hours. The closet rink to Sharon is Metropolis Rink on 2167 Washington Street in Canton.

And if you don’t own your own pair of skates don’t worry! Many DCR rinks offer skate rentals for children and adults. For those who don’t know how to skate, you can find out where Learn-to-Skate programs are being offered.

DCR’s Universal Access Program also offers accessible skating at a number of rinks for those with limited mobility

Most rinks have concession stands for skaters to warm up with a cup of hot cocoa, too.
Happy skating!
