Keeping in mind the name of this Blog; The most common comeback when I said to people around town “Hey, did you see Sharon was voted number one town to live in?!” was…”Ya who did they have to payoff for that to happen” and “ya..who did the voting?” From my perspective, you don’t need a bunch of hoo haa stat gatherers to tell me that my town is the best place to live, nor do I need them telling the rest of the world that either. Don’t get me wrong, I’m tickled pink that some outsider thinks enough of us that they have this need to proclaim something to the world that we here in town have known forever. After looking at our town, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out this is a great place to live. True New England Country, chock full of Nature. Moose Hill and Trustees, Rattlesnake Hill and Borderland, Massapoag Trail and Devils Rock and of course, “The Crown Jewel,” Lake Massapoag! You have all the amenities the modern person needs on the outskirts of town in Crescent Ridge and you can get beer and food in the center. What’s not to like??!! But how is our town any different from any other town that’s been around for a while?
Seriously, There really is a lot of “Pride” that someone thinks highly enough or us to declare us the Best town to live in. That is indeed some sort of testament to not only the ambiance of the town but also the administrative side of the town for their part in it all, not to mention the type of folk that live here in town, even if the only reason some of them are here is for “The School System!”
So to me it’s kind of a bittersweet situation. I’m happy that were are what we are, but sad that now everyone knows about it and might be wantin’ “A piece of the action!” I wonder, will we have a sign at all the borders of our town “Entering Sharon, The Best Place To Live In The Country..????”
