Let's Talk About Literacy at Striar Hebrew Academy
"Let's Talk about Literacy" is a two-part program for students in
Kindergarten, Grades 1 & 2 and their parents. The students will
attend "Jewish Stories Alive!", presented by storyteller Cindy Rivka
Marshall. Through her professional storytelling, she will bring
characters to life--animals, the sun and the wind, even the letters of
the aleph-bet, sparking children's imaginations and building a love of
reading.
Parents will attend a Book Talk of The Read-Aloud Handbook,
by Jim Trelease. Professional librarian Edie Salzman will discuss the
importance of reading aloud to children, as well as the techniques and
strategies for helping children discover the pleasures of reading and
setting them on the road to becoming life-long readers.
Free and open to the public.
