Sharon Community Chamber Orchestra Concert

The Sharon Community Chamber Orchestra presents its first concert of the season on Tuesday, December 4, 7:30pm, at Sharon Middle School, 75 Mountain Street in Sharon. Musical Director Michael Korn will conduct this exciting program that will include Mendelssohn's The Hebrides (Fingal's Cave) Overture, Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme featuring guest cello soloist Kett Chuan Lee, and Haydn's Symphony No. 104 ("London"). The evening will also include Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 performed by orchestra members with guest musicians as well as the premier performance of the newly formed Sharon Community Youth Chamber Orchestra. 


Now in its tenth season, the Sharon Community Chamber Orchestra includes local musicians ranging from students to seniors.  The growing orchestra furnishes the community with a source of musical pleasure while providing its members with a vehicle for enjoying and developing their musical talents.

Chinese-Malaysian cellist Kett Chuan Lee holds performance diplomas from The Boston Conservatory and Longy School of Music, where he studied with Rhonda Rider and Mihail Jojatu. Before moving to the U.S. in 2003, he was a member of the National Symphony Orchestra and Radio Television Orchestra of Malaysia.


During his school years in Boston, Kett received a 100 Projects for Peace grant with his world music ensemble Muziko Monda, a $30,000 scholarship grant from Yayasan Seni Berdaftar (YSB), a non-profit organization in Malaysia, and won several honor chamber music competitions at The Boston Conservatory.

Kett is an active freelancer in the Greater Boston area and currently plays principal chair in Symphony Nova, the Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra and the Stow Festival Orchestra. His other orchestra and theater affiliations include the Atlantic Symphony, Video Game Orchestra, Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, Cape Ann Symphony Orchestra, Metrowest Symphony Orchestra, Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, Chatham Chorale, The Company Theatre, Vokes Theatre, Ocean State Theatre Company, Reagle Music Theatre, and many others. In addition to orchestral performance, Kett was formerly a member of the nationally acclaimed Boston String Quartet.


As well as performing at all major concert halls around the world, Kett has held solo recitals in Japan, South Korea and Malaysia. He has attended numerous music festivals, including the National Orchestral Institute, Garth Newel Music Center, Canton International Summer Music Academy, Asia Orchestra Week, and the Asian Youth Orchestra. He has performed in master classes for Bernard Greenhouse, Laurence Lesser, Paul Katz, Stephen Geber, Andrés Díaz, Andrew Mark, Marc Johnson, Valérie Aimard, Brian Manker, Yumi Kendall, and David Ying.
