Today’s children live in a world of results and immediate gratification.  Is it still possible to generate and maintain enthusiasm for learning, upholding religious practices and involvement in home and community?  In a world of results, how do we create excitement and value for the process of learning and growing itself?  How do we speak about and incorporate God into our homes and lives so that our children are engaged and inspired?

Dr. Scott Goldberg, director of Yeshiva University's Institute for University-School Partnership, will answer these questions at the Striar Memorial Lecture on Sunday, December 16, 10 am, at Striar Hebrew Academy, located at 100 Ames Street in Sharon. Dr. Goldberg's topic is "Nurturing and Nourishing Souls: Raising Spiritual Children."

Dr. Goldberg is an internationally recognized expert in Jewish and general education on various educational and psychological topics including: Differentiated Instruction, multilingual literacy development and assessment, the connection between learning disabilities and behavior problems, religious development and assessment, the effects of media on learning and behavior, bilingual education, systems of support for students, and special education. As director of the Institute, Dr. Goldberg works closely with organizations, agencies, and institutions to improve the educational and operational performance of schools.

Striar Hebrew Academy is a coeducational Modern-Orthodox day school, serving students toddler-age through sixth grade. The Striar Memorial Lecture is given in memory of the school's founders, R.
