"History of the Black Freedon Movement: A Story of Ordinary People Accomplishing Extraordinary Things"; Professor Lyda Peters, speaker

Celebrate Black History Month at the Sharon Adult Center with this free lecture. Everyone is welcome; light refreshments will be served.

This talk will introduce you to some of the stories of the little-known men and women who made this social justice movement, so that both those who lived through these turbulent years and those too young to remember them will come to know its importance in our lives.

Sharon resident Lyda Peters is a Professor of Education at Cambridge College and part-time faculty in the African & African Diaspora Studies Program at Boston College. Her areas of specialization include teaching the history of the black freedom movement.
