Art Happening at Sharon Adult Center

The next exciting event
at the Lakeside Gallery takes place from Wednesday, October 2 through Wednesday, November 13. The newest exhibit will showcase both artists and art students who
paint at the Sharon Adult Center in the Open Art Studio, guided by Vera Cross and in the Techniques in Watercolor class led by Dorothy Appel.
Dorothy, a longtime resident and even longer time artist has been teaching and inspiring students for many years. When asked why she loves to teach, she replied “because that is when I feel so alive.” Students in her class are both professionals and amateurs and work in all media. Vera’s Open Art Studio painters get together to paint, exchange ideas, inspire each other and have fun while they’re at it! They range in ability from beginners to professionals working in acrylic, watercolor, pastels, etc. It is an atmosphere of what Vera explains is “guidance; I am not a teacher”, she says! Both programs are open to new students, space permitting.A reception is planned for the public on Wednesday evening October 16th from 7 - 9 pm. Come to meet the artists, get insights into their thought processes, and be inspired!
The Lakeside Gallery is located at the Sharon Adult Center, 219 Massapoag Ave, Sharon, MA 02067. Phone 781-784-8000 or emailsharoncoa@townofsharon.org. Gallery hours are Mon - Wed 9:00am - 4:00pm, Thurs until 7:30pm and Friday until noon. The gallery also offers the Craft Corner, managed by Doris Ann Gladstone, for a fine display of contemporary and country crafts for purchase. It is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, or by appointment.
