Who is Sharon's Person of 2012?

One reader nominated two for the unofficial title. Let us know who you'd vote for as the Person of the Year for 2012.

Now that 2013 has arrived, we're looking back at 2012, and, specifically, who Sharon Patch readers looked at as the "Person of the Year".

At Patch, we know it's important to pause and recognize the community members who make the neighborhood a better place, each and every day. Who contributed time and effort to planning that great event, or helping out a fellow resident in tough times? Maybe it's that person's positive spirit that impacts the community. Perhaps the person you're thinking of performs one of those "thankless" jobs we just can't live without.

One local resident, Paula Keefe, weighed in with her nomination on Dec. 17:

I nominate William Fowler, Finance Director for the Town of Sharon. No one puts in more hours and has more diverse duties at Town Hall. He is the glue that holds things together. Mr. Fowler strives to do what is best for the Town even if the job is unpopular or controversial. His is one of those thankless jobs that has to be done. He does it with dedication and tirelessly. I am not related to him or close to him personally but have had a bird's eye view on a part time basis of this man's contributions.

Do you agree? Who else do you think deserves the title in Sharon? Let us know in the comments section below. Happy New Year!

I agree! William Fowler is an unsung hero, always helpful to seniors, always helpful to everyone, who has upgraded our financial and payment systems to make our Town work even better and our lives a little easier.

I agree also. William Fowler has outstanding financial and analytical skills. He is very willing to assist us (the whole community) and presents facts very well at meetings, be it Town Meeting or other meetings he attends.
