Sharon Selectmen Approve New Fees

The Sharon Board of Selectmen approved by 3-0 for a request to increase certain fees in the town last week.

Presented by department of public works superintendent Eric Hooper, several existing fees were increased and several new fees were introduced.

All fee increases and creations were based on a mean of surrounding towns.

Trench fees, for any hole a resident digs deep enough, was created and will cost $50.

Street cutting, like putting in access for a parking lot by lowering the curb, was raised from $50 to $85.

Yearly contractor registration fees were increased from $50 a year to $100 a year.

A Title 5 review, which is when a septic inspector comes to check the system usually before the sale of a house, was created at $25.

A common victual license, which allows a business to sell food, was raised from $25 to $60.

Taxi cab license fees also went up from $10 a year to $50 a year.
