Sharon's 250th Birthday Party in the Works

Sharon is two years away from its 250th birthday and selectmen are already planning one heck of a party.

“It takes a long tim to get something like that together and we’d like to get the wheels in motion to get a committee started,” said selectmen chair Walter Roach.

Other selectmen volunteered to help set up the committee, which they want to work with the historical society and town meeting to help fund the project.

Roach said he envisioned a weeklong event and added they’d like to see a parade. The parade would need significant funding in and of itself.

“We may want to put in an article to discuses to see how the town can come up with some of the money,” Roach said.  “It’s going to be just $20,000 for the parade, and then we’ll have other functions run all week long.”
