Sharon Moves Towards More Solar Power

Sharon is a little bit closer to more solar power.

Selectmen voted last week to approve a motion to allow town manager Benjamin Puritz to continue negotiations with Bay State Consultants.

“We’re driving towards completion of negotiations for a presentation to [selectmen] at the meeting on July 9,” the town manager said.

Puritz said the town currently has 3.4 megawatt hours in solar energy credits, and he is working with Bay State to utilize all available credits for the facility.

“For a conservative estimate, 3.4 megs would reduce costs by $250,000 a year,” he said. “We were very pleased with the service provided by Bay State Consultants. The negotiations have been very carefully scrutinized.”
