UPDATED: NSTAR Progressing In Sharon

409 of 6,653 Sharon customers without power as of 4 p.m. Tuesday. And most of National Grid's 58 customers should have power back by Friday.

About 370 NSTAR customers in Sharon got their electricity back by late Tuesday afternoon, two days after Irene knocked it out.

NSTAR said on its website the 409 Sharon customers still out as of 4 p.m. Tuesday should get it back by 10 p.m. Friday.

That's a day earlier than the utility estimated earlier Tuesday, when 779 customers here were out as of 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, National Grid will begin restoring power to its 58 Sharon customers Wednesday. The work "will be mostly completed by Friday with the remaing customers restored by Sunday," the utility said on its website. Earlier Tuesday, National Grid had predicted all 58 being restored by 12 a.m. Sunday.

Sharon Town Administrator Benjamin Puritz said Tuesday night that residents with inoperable private wells due to outages can go to the Department of Public Works for water.
