We sent our son to Sandy at The Children's Hours when he was 2 years old (although there were younger children as well). Going into the beginning of the school year, we were pretty nervous because it was his first school experience and he'd never been away from me (his mother) for any period of time. As soon as I stepped into Sandy's school though and spoke with both her and Karen, I felt so calmed and so excited for our son. Sandy and Karen spent time with us getting to know our son and listening to all of our concerns. They really helped us see that everything would be fine. It is difficult to put into words how wonderful both Sandy and Karen are with the children. They provide such a warm, wonderful, caring, homey, supportive environment.
Time is spent inside and outside, learning about seasons and animals and making the most imaginative art projects. Toys and materials are thoughtfully introduced and my son learned something new every day. Socialization and learning through play is guided and supported and it is so much fun to watch as Sandy and Karen help the children develop budding friendships!
The Children's Hours is a place where kids can grow and learn and develop their independence while still feeling comfortable and loved and protected. I truly believe this is the most special and unique school and would recommend it whole heartedly to anyone I know. I am so grateful that our son was able to spend a year there as his first introduction to school. I only wish I could send both of our children there every year!
