What do the Teal Ribbons Near Sharon Center Symbolize?

The ribbons can be seen tied to several lamp posts throughout town.

Last week, we launched a new feature on Sharon Patch asking local residents to send us their questions about what's going on in town.

Two readers asked us to check out the meaning behind the teal ribbons that are tied to several lamp posts throughout town, such as the bridge over the Sharon commuter rail station on Rte. 27/Depot Road.

The ribbons, according to Sharon Town Clerk Marlene Chused, stand for the fight against Ovarian Cancer, and have been up for the better part of two weeks. More information about the disease can be found at the Teal Ribbon Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation's website.
