Want to Help Organize Sharon's Next July 4 Festivities?

Fourth of July Committee requests additional members, selectman says.

The volunteer group that organizes Sharon's Independence Day festivities would like to add "a few more members," Selectman Walter "Joe" Roach said Monday night. Selectmen added about two members this year to the Sharon Fourth of July Committee, Roach added. However, committee members say getting a quorum is hard sometimes, he said. Roach praised this year's celebration, held July 3 at Veteran's Memorial Park Beach. The day started with a Bicycle and Doll Carriage Parade up Beach Street to the beach, followed by about five hours of activities, food and music at the beach. The fireworks display wrapped up the festivities. "I thought that the events at Memorial Park Beach went off very well. And the fireworks were exceptional," he said. "Hats off to the Fourth of July Committee."
