(VIDEO) Sharon Residents Explore 'Citizen Kane'

One Book, One Town 2012 hosts a screening and discussion of Orson Welles' classic.

Some Sharon residents now have something in common with the main characters in this year's community reading selection.

Both they and Joe Kavalier and Sammy Clayman have seen "Citizen Kane."

A group gathered in the Cynthia B. Fox Community Room today to screen the classic film and discuss it with Wheaton College Associate Professor of Film Studies and English Josh Stenger.

The event was part of One Book, One Town 2012: Sharon Reads Together's calendar. Sharon is reading by Michael Chabon.

Library Director Barbra Nadler said the connection between the book and the film is that Kavalier and Clay are "invited to a preview of 'Citizen Kane,' and it inspired them to change the way that they do their comics."

Stenger asked the audience members how many of them had never seen the film. A few people raised their hands.

"It's always fun to watch with someone for the first time," Stenger said.

One Book, One Town's next event is Tuesday's "Rabbi Barry Starr Wrestles With the Golem," at 7 p.m. at the library.
