'Deborah Sampson' Comes to Sharon

Anna Smith, of Topeka, Kan., comes to Sharon to act the part of Deborah Sampson, the Commonwealth's Heroine, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Sharon.

Smith was the first woman in an all-male National Guard Unit in Kansas. She worked full time for the National Guard for 21 years. She has a history degree from Emporia State University. She belongs to the Daughters of the American Revolution, the VFW and is a lifetime DAV member. She has performed for audiences of all ages and is performing here in Plimpton, Sampson's hometown and Sharon, where Sampson settled.

Sponsored by the Sharon Historical Society, this event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. This presentation is appropriate for Sharon residents of all ages.
