Weekend Spotlite: An Art Show, Pick Your Pumpkin and Enjoy Some Music

Here are some weekend ideas for you to consider in the Sharon area.

How about doing some pumpkin painting today, Oc.t 20, at the Halfway Cafe in the Village Shoppes at Cobbs Corner? It's one of many things going on in the Sharon area this weekend.

You can take part from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 12:30-1:30 p.m. or 1:30-2:30 p.m. Call 781-821-0944 to register. There are 25 slots per hour.

The Lakeside Gallery opened a new exhibit on Oct. 17, "Memories and Dreams", featuring the works of artist Brigitte McArdle, which will run through Nov 30. Call 781-784-8000 for more information and gallery hours.

Wards Berry Farm still has lots of pumpkins and you get to take a hayride out to the pumpkin patch. There's a huge corn maze and barnyard animals run by the Sunny Rock 4H Club. Chickens, sheep, cows, miniature horses, rabbits and goats. A great family afternoon.

The Unitarian Church of Sharon has there not just another coffeehouse' on Saturday, Oct. 20. This month's featured musical guest is the Atwater Donnelly Trio. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Shotime: 7 p.m. Tickets: $15.

The Blue Hills Hiking Club meets at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, for a moderate to difficult 2.5 mile hike. You'll start at Summit Road to the top of Great Blue. Coming back you'll take the red dot and green dot trails. Meet at the trailside muesum north parking lot at 1904 Canton Ave.
