Sharon Garden Club Presents "Books in Bloom"

At the Sharon Public Library, the Sharon Garden Club is presenting "Books in Bloom."

The Sharon Garden Club opened their secnd annual "Books in Bloom" event Oct. 22, at the Sharon Public Library.

"Books in Bloom" is a take off on the Museum of Fine Arts' "Art in Bloom." Members of the Sharon Garden Club choose a book of their liking and translated that book into a work of art using flowers, plantings or anything that comes from the garden. Some have used all vegetables while others have incorporated live fish. It is up to the artist. This year there are 21 artists and designs.

The Museum of Fine Arts came to the Sharon Garden Club's October meeting to do a demonstration, lecture and to interpret an art piece and also to get the club motivated about this event.

Next year, the Sharon Garden Club hopes to make this event a fund raiser for the library with a wine and cheese reception and ticket sales.

On Nov. 12, the garden club will be offering a floral design program at the Sharon Senior Center, lower level, at 6:30 p.m. This event is free of charge. For more information visit the Sharon Garden Club website at: www.sharongardenclub.org
