With Sharon expected to get four to eight inches of snow today, groups and organizations are now postponing or canceling events scheduled for this evening.
Sharon Public Schools have canceled all after school activities and athletic contests scheduled to take place this afternoon and evening.
Tonight's boys' and girls' basketball games against Stoughton have been moved to tomorrow with the same times and locations. Indoor track's scheduled meet vs. Foxboro at BU will now take place on Jan. 3 at BU.
All Sharon Rec. activities scheduled for Dec. 17 have been canceled.
Temple Kol Tikvah and Temple Sinai are closed and will not have any classes this evening. Temple Israel will be closing early.
The Sharon Public Library has closed for the day due to the weather.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Norfolk County which will be in effect until 1 a.m. According to the NWS, snow is expected to intensify around 4 p.m. and continue until roughly 10 p.m. before diminishing.
Much of the accumulation will occur during this window but may fall in as little as three hours. Snowfall rates at or exceeding one-inch will be possible during the 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. timeframe.
