Have You Seen the Bobcat in Town?

If you spot a bobcat, call animal control.

Saturday morning, police and animal control in Sharon reported that an animal that many believed to be a bobcat was spotted on Billings Street.

Posted on Sharon police's Facebook page, they remind residents, "Bobcats are not often responsible for killing domestic animals, but occasionally are responsible for losses of poultry, lambs, small goats, pigs, and house cats. Mostly, bobcats tend to use wild animals as prey items. Once a bobcat causes damage for the first time, it gets easier for the animal to do it again."

When bobcats are a problem, there are several strategies that can be used to manage, including: not feeding wildlife, preventing buildup of food under feeders, and feeding dogs and cats indoors. Police reported many more tips on its Facebook page.
