Construction Alert: Rte. 128 Barrier Removal Oct. 25
By Liz Taurasi
Starting on Friday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m. construction crews will be removing the barrier used to implement the traffic split on I-95 south bound (Rte. 128) at the Needham-Dedham town line. The rain date for this construction is Friday, Nov. 1.
Removing the barrier will restores this stretch of highway to its original configuration of three travel lanes and a breakdown lane, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
The barriers and traffic split have been in place since Jan. 18, 2013 to help facilitate the reconstruction of the bridge carrying I-95 southbound over the Charles River. The work is part of the “Add-A-Lane” project to upgrade I-95 between Randolph and Wellesley by adding a fourth travel lane in both directions.
