Sharon residents put on the pink to support the Joe Andruzzi Foundation

(Sharon, MA) – Sharonites Cathy Copeland and Melody Howard Ritt and the members of the Marketing Unzipped (MU) team donned fuschia-colored, feathered boas at the MegaBusiness Expo in November to heighten awareness of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation and its work on behalf of families fighting cancer.

The hot pink accessory, provided by the MU collaborative, adorned the necks of nearly 90 Expo visitors for fun “Flaunt It for a Cause” photos as part of MU’s visibility campaign for the Andruzzi Foundation (JAF). The strategic marketing collaborative also provided guests with free professional photos taken by team photographer Cathy Copeland and raised more than $400 for JAF through the sale of the Andruzzi Foundation book, Don’t Lick Your Friends.

The “Flaunt It for a Cause” campaign was created by MU’s team of marketing experts as a way to increase public awareness of JAF’s mission of providing patient grants and funding for pediatric brain cancer research. At the same time, the campaign was initiated to create buzz about the Collaborative’s recent re-branding and the launch of its new website. Founded in Fall of 2012 by Web Wizard Monica Bentley, Brand Champion Copeland, Chief Storyteller Ritt, and Social Media Strategist Jen Vondenbrink, MU provides progressive businesses with trend-setting services in branding and visual design, website development and Search Engine Optimization (SEO), public relations and content development, and social media strategy.

“It was great fun for a great cause and a memorable experience at the MegaBusiness Expo,” said Cindy Peterson, Director of Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center, Foxborough, who posed with MU’s trademark pink feather boa. The sentiment was shared by Barrie Bruce, owner of Barrie Bruce Golf Schools in Billerica and the Wentworth Hills Country Club in Plainville, MA. “My embarrassment was overshadowed by the importance of what I was doing,” he said. “I had a lot of laughter. I would have felt like a stuffed shirt if I didn’t do it.”

Joining Peterson and Bruce in front of the camera were representatives from nearly 100 well-known businesses and organizations in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

“With the ‘Flaunt It for a Cause’ campaign, Marketing Unzipped demonstrated the effectiveness of its multi-faceted marketing services while showing its support for the great work of the Andruzzi Foundation,” explained Copeland. “It is our hope that the success of this campaign will lay the foundation for growth for our collaborative and all of our Marketing Unzipped clients.”
