Girl Scouts honor Sharon resident Denise Kaigler

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts honored five role models at the 22nd annual Leading Women Awards Breakfast, held at the Sheraton Hotel in Boston. Honorees included Helen G. Drinan, President, Simmons College; Denise Kaigler, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs & Communications at Boston Scientific Corporation; Sheila Lirio Marcelo, Founder & CEO, Care.com; Joyce Maroney, Senior Director, Customer Experience & Services Marketing Kronos, Inc.; and Leading Man, the Honorable Thomas M. Menino, Mayor of Boston. Each of the five honorees was paired with a Girl Scout who has similar interests or career aspirations, and who introduced the honoree and presented the award at the breakfast.

“Each year Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts honors remarkable leaders who have made a positive impact in their career and community,” explained Ruth N. Bramson, CEO, Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. “The Leading Women Awards is a way for our girls to meet great role models and for our supporters to learn how Girl Scouts is creating future women leaders.”

The Leading Women Awards drew an audience of more than 600 professionals and friends of Girl Scouting, with many influential members of the Greater Boston business such as Michael K. Durkin, President and Chief Executive Officer, United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley; Steven W. Tompkins, Suffolk County Sherriff and former leading women Callie Crossley, WGBH radio and host, Under the Radar with Callie Crossley and Marie Turley, Executive Director City of Boston Women’s Commission were among those in attendance to celebrate the honorees.
