Four seats open on SHS School Council

Sharon High School will hold its Open House on Thursday, Oct. 10, during which the SHS PTSO will run an election for parent and community representatives to serve on this year's School Council.

Sharon High School has a functioning and representative School Council that convenes on a regular basis throughout the school year. Co-led by SHS Principal Dr. Jose Libano, the group includes students, parents, faculty and community members. Its primary objectives are to serve as a vehicle for assisting the principal in the development of the annual improvement plan and review of the handbook. It calls for the inclusive participation of various stakeholders willing and able to provide different perspectives about the school's needs.

Currently, there are four open positions: two parent positions and two community representative positions (residents with no students in the school). Individuals each serve a two-year term.

The statement should include why you are seeking to serve on the School Council and why your participation would be beneficial to the Council. Each candidate's statement will be posted at the Open House. Anyone attending the Open House will be eligible to vote.
