Fisher Academy of Ballet and Dance to Hold Auditions for the Nutcracker

Fisher Academy of Ballet and Dance, located in Sharon, will hold open auditions for area dancers on September 8 at 372 South Main Street in Sharon. Dancers do not need to take classes at Fisher Academy to participate.  Auditions are open to dancers ages five through 18, and for adults interested in a walk-on, non-dancing part.

The Nutcracker is a beloved holiday production, and Fisher Academy is pleased to present its first-ever full version of the ballet this December.  Liane Fisher, Director, says, “We are so excited to bring the Nutcracker to this area.  Our school has been performing pieces of the Nutcracker for several years, but it is time to do the whole ballet.  We invite all dancers, not just our own, to join us for what is sure to be a wonderful production.  We hope it will become a local tradition!”

Auditions will be held Sunday, September 8 at 372 South Main Street, Sharon according to the following schedule:

Fisher Academy of Ballet & Dance was founded in 2011 with the hope of providing exceptional dance training to area students.  The philosophy is that whether a student wishes to dance only recreationally or wishes to become a professional, they should receive the same high quality training.  The program at Fisher Academy of Ballet & Dance is designed with a careful progression of technique and intensity.  The main focus is ballet, which is the foundation for professional or collegiate dance.  The ballet syllabus is carefully constructed to build upon prior knowledge with levels being determined by ability and technical mastery rather than age.

Director Liane Fisher has a Master’s degree in Ballet Repertory and Dance History and advanced teaching certification in ballet, pointe, and modern dance from Dance Educators of America. She was the Dance Curriculum Coordinator for the Performing Arts Division at UMass Amherst, she has taught Ballet Technique and Dance History as a professor in the Dance Department of Dean College and as an Artist-in-Residence at Wesleyan University’s Green Street Arts Center.  For many years she taught workshops for Boston Ballet's City Dance Program in the Boston Public Schools and at the Boston Ballet Studios.   At Boston Ballet she also served as Vice President of Education and Outreach on the BBVA Board. Liane guest teaches at studios throughout New England and conducts Teacher Training seminars.  She has performed with the Royal Ballet, Boston Ballet, Rhode Island State Ballet, Hartford City Ballet, Dance Prism, Ballet Theatre of Boston, Pioneer Valley Ballet and others.
