Sharon Cannonballs Into Summer
Sharon Recreation's Summer Kickoff Celebration at Veteran's Memorial Park Beach drew a large crowd of kids for karaoke, face painting, and even a cannonball contest.
Some Sharon kids hoped to see a 10 today, when the temperature hit around 95.
A cannonball contest was among the highlights of Sharon Recreation's Summer Kickoff Celebration at Veteran's Memorial Park Beach.
Recreation summer staff judged the leaps and held up their scores.
Cool, eh?
Staying cool on the first day of summer was one of the goals of the festivities, which included karoake on the bandstand, and face painting, and hacky sack decorating led by Sharon Health Department interns Kseniya Levina, Jessica Twombley and Joseph Lai.
Beach concessionaire Said "Felix" Safai cooked up Mediterranean food and traditional summer treats.
Hotter weather -- approaching 100 degrees -- is expected Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Taunton.
The agency has posted a heat advisory for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday on its website.
