Some Chocolates Will Leave Their Valentines Puzzled
Sweethearts Three's offerings include edible chocolate heart-shaped jigsaw puzzles.
Some visitors to Sharon's Sweethearts Three will convey their affection to their valentine in pieces.
Edible chocolate hearts crafted into jigsaw puzzles are among the goodies the Pond Street chocolatier offers as Valentine's Day approaches on Tuesday.
"It's four pieces of chocolate that spell out 'I love you' in the shape of a heart," says Jill Schwab, who runs the shop with her mother, Karen.
"Sometimes, we sell them all put together, and other times we take them apart, since it's a puzzle and people want to put it together."
"Because we're not located in a mall," Sweethearts Three sees "sort of spur of the moment, last-minute purchases for Valentine's Day," Schwab says.
Handmade chocolates are the most popular, she says.
"A lot of people want just a nice elegant box of chocolates," Schwab says.
"I just had a woman in who bought four little boxes of candy for each of her children. One likes white chocolate. One likes milk chocolate."
Sweethearts Three makes everything fresh.
"We're always making new candies every day, because we're selling them as we're making them."
Chocolate with a layer of peanut butter and a layer of fluff inside recently joined Sweethearts Three's shelves.
"It's sort of a take on the sandwich: nontraditional chocolate filled with something that people always love," Schwab says.

Although I'm used to the traditional wooden jigsaw puzzles with whimsy pieces...this is a jigsaw puzzle I could really sink my teeth into!
