SHS AD Search Draws More Than 75 Applications

Search committee scheduled to recommend three semi-finalists next week.

More than 75 candidates applied for athletic director, Glenn Brand said Wednesday.

Asked if any current Sharon High coaches applied, Brand said that "the status of those who applied, and those who the search committee has identified to interview is confidential at this point in the process."

Applications were due Feb. 1.

The search committee is scheduled to conduct screening interviews starting Friday and through Monday, according to a timeline on the schools' website.

The committee is scheduled to recommend three semi-finalists next Thursday, Feb. 16. Those semi-finalists will then visit Sharon during the week of Feb. 27, and school officials plan to visit their sites March 5.

School officials are tentatively scheduled to select a finalist March 9.

Brand said the search committee includes: student-athletes Erica Pais and Sam Pinkowitz; coaches Rachel Selby Walker, and James Arguimbau; parents/guardians Mary Mello, Miri Park and Tricia Perry; community member Bruce Needle; teacher representative ; and administratorsand Glenn Brand. Brand is chairing the committee.

Athletic Director Robert Sondheim will retire this summer, ending 11 years in the post. He was the Eagles' swimming coach for five-and-a-half years under his predecessor, , who served from 1995 to 2001, according to Sondheim.
