Sharon High School junior heavyweight Tyler Lainer finished eighth at the two-day, 27th Annual Marshfield Tournament, varsity wrestling head coach Anthony Lucie said today.
Overall, the Eagles finished with 53.5 points and 26th in the 32-team tournament held Tuesday and Wednesday at Marshfield High School, Lucie said.
Lainer was among 13 Sharon wrestlers at the tourney. Five qualifed for the second day; wrestlers losing twice on Tuesday were eliminated from competition, Lucie said.
The five Sharon wrestlers competing on both days were: Lainer, junior tri-captain Russell Locke, junior Brad Schiff, senior tri-captain Luke Coughlin and junior Bryan Kan, Lucie said.
Lainer received a first-round bye, was pinned, received a second bye and then pinned his opponent, Lucie said. He earned a win by injury default on Wednesday.
