UPDATED: Sharon Voters Head to Polls Today

At 11 a.m., 351 votes cast. Library trustee, selectman to be decided.

Today's Sharon annual town election had drawn 351 voters as of 11 a.m.

Voters will elect two Sharon Public Library trustees from among three candidates.

And choose a selectman: an incumbent or a write-in candidate.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Sharon High School.

Library trustee is the only contested office on the ballot. Incumbent Robert Levin and residents Kirstin Gray and Cheryl Weinstein are the candidates. Two three-year terms are on the ballot. Incumbent Amie Beth Saphire is not seeking re-election.

Nearly every other candidate on the ballot is unopposed.

Incumbent Selectman Richard Powell was in that group until last week, when resident Michael O'Shea announced he is running as a write-in candidate for the three-year term on the board.

The rest of the ballot is as follows. Incumbents have asterisks beside their names:

School committee members Glenn Allen and Mitch Blaustein, and planning board member Susan Price, are not seeking re-election.

Sincere thanks to Mitch for his commitment to our town over many years of service and to Glenn for his effective leadership as School Committee Chair. The quality of our schools is no accident; it results directly from the focused pursuit of excellence by our teachers, School Department administrators and School Committee members. We are most fortunate to have these individuals representing our town values.
