UPDATED-Sharon Storm Info Center: Numbers to Keep on Hand During Hurricane Sandy
Here's a list of non-emergency numbers that could be useful if the storm causes problems.
UPDATE (10:30 p.m.)-NSTAR was reporting an 2,205 estimated customers are without power.
UPDATE (10:30 p.m.)-The MBTA is expecting to resume service Tuesday with the exception of the Stoughton-Providence line. Governor Deval Patrick said he was hoping there would be no delays. Check with the MBTA for scheduling information.
Update (6:33 p.m.) - There are reports of damage to a residence on Blair Circle in Sharon after a tree fell onto a house.
As of 6:30 p.m., 343 were without power in Sharon, according to NSTAR.
Update (3:18 p.m.) - Sharon Police Department reported closures on Old Post Road due to being blocked, Bay Road by East Street and Walpole by Bluff Head.
Adding to that, NSTAR reported as of 3:19 p.m. that 192 customers were without power in Sharon.
Update (2:36 p.m.) - NSTAR reorted at 2:37 p.m. Monday that about 140 customers were without power.
Update (11:55 a.m.) - All town offices in Sharon will be closed Monday due to Hurricane Sandy.
Sharon Public Schools will remain closed as well, and Superintendent Timothy Farmer said staff should stay home, and the District Administrative Office at 75 Mountain St. will also be closed.

Last year at this time Sharon faced an October snow storm that, while unusual, brought forth a bit of an early winter headache for those around town.
Now, as Hurricane Sandy moves toward the southern shore of New England, local residents should rememer that call volume to emergency workers skyrockets during major storms.
However, many of the calls are non-emergency calls that could be better handled by another agency.
The following is a partial list of phone numbers to call related to specific problems you may have in Sharon:

- NSTAR outage reporting: 1-800-592-2000
- National Grid outage reporting: 1-800-465-1212
- Verizon: 1-800-VERIZON (1-800-837-4966)
- Comcast: 1-800-COMCAST (1-800-266-2278)
In emergency situations, however, residents should not hesitate to call 9-1-1.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has sent out a list of actions that people can take to minimize the potential damage from this storm, including:
- Make sure you have a well-stocked family disaster kit in the event you lose power or are isolated for a number of days.
- Bring in outdoor items such as lawn furniture, trash barrels, hanging plants, toys and awnings that can be broken or picked up by strong winds and used as a missile.
- Elevate articles in your basement that could be damaged from even minor flooding.
- Keep you vehicles fully fuelled.
- Have a certain amount of cash available. If power is lost, ATMs may not be working.
- Learn where gas pilots and water mains are located and how to safely shut off all utilities.
- Lock doors and windows to ensure that they are closed tight to help protect against strong winds and rain.
