The Sharon U14B3 team won the South Shore League Championship on Sunday afternoon, 1-0, over Weymouth.
The Eagles entered the tournament as an underdog to top-seeded Weymouth, but went ahead late in the first half on a pass from Josh Gerson to Gautam Goel, who drilled the ball into the upper right corner of the net.
Strong defense, and goaltending by Stephen Reilly and Dylan Williams, enabled the Eagles to hold off several furious Weymouth rushes at the end.
The Sharon team consisted of seventh- and eighth-grade Sharon Middle School students Jordan Chabot, Sebastien DeCarbonnel, Griffin Fein, Ben Friedman, Sam Fritz, Adam Ganz, Josh Gerson, Gautham Goel, Ben Hack, Ben Hamilton, Liam McManus, Shalin Patel, Stephen Reilly, Noah Rivard, Jordan Shapiro, Daniel Shlayen, Adam Sneider and Dylan Williams.
