Sharon resident Sue Green says she lost her electricity for about 14 hours, until around 11 a.m. Sunday, during the Halloween weekend snowstorm.

"Cable was actually fortuitous, because it came on at 4:10 p.m., five minutes before kickoff," Green said while sitting outside French Memories Bakery and Cafe, in Post Office Square, early this afternoon.

Reminiscent of Tropical Storm Irene in late August, Sharon residents find themselves without electricity for multiple days, and their streets blocked by downed trees and power lines.

Green said that experience prepared her a little better for this storm, which began Saturday afternoon.

"I was ready with my flashlight," she said.

Sharon Department of Public Works employee Glen Peck was ready with his shovel.

He said he shoveled from 7 p.m. Saturday to about 1 p.m. Sunday, and returned at 4 a.m. Monday.

"Things have gotten better, but it's still going to take a few days," Peck said while shoveling the sidewalk near the Sharon Express in Post Office Square.
