Sharon PD Issues Driver’s License Renewal Reminder
Residents are encouraged to check to see if their drivers license may be up for renewal in 2013.

Before you blow out the candles on next birthday cake, be sure to check the expiration date on your driver’s license. Your Massachusetts license expires every five years on your birthday.
The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles no longer mails out renewal notices.
If you are stopped by police for any infraction and you have an expired license, it is a criminal offense. You could be arrested and your vehicle towed. So double check that expiration date.
Also, remind family and friends to do the same.
The Registry advises you to renew at least seven days before your birthday to ensure that you receive your new license before your current license expires.
Licenses can be renewed at any Registry office. Some residents may renew online at www.mass.gov/rmv. Visit the Web site to see if you are eligible.

I didn't realize that my license had expired..nor did I know that the RMV stopped issuing renewal reminders...Got pulled over by the Sharon police ..asked what I did..I was told "It's what you didn't do." They knew My license had expired, followed me and pulled me over. Got read the riot act, got told I could be arrested then had to pay 200 bucks to have my vehicle towed back to my house 4 tenths of a mile away...sad part was......I was followed 3 times that distance before pulled over...like they couldn't have pulled me over in my driveway......way to treat someone born in the town guys...

I do believe you can now sign up on the RMV site to have a reminder emailed to you...and BTW....Firearms permits are also on that list of "Things to remember" for notices of that are not sent out either as we recently saw in the Quincy PD!! Half the Force was walking around with expired LTC's.

I read about the Quincy Police. I'm not sure how that happened because I believe that the Firearms Records Bureau sends out reminder notices. The Registry definitely does not send them out anymore. No sir. As an citizen issued an LTC I can tell you that no reminders for LTC's are issued and if you look at the RMV site a bit closer..you will see where you can now sign up for an RMV/DOT reminder........is this just free advertising for your practice?

As you can see, my law office is providing a service which the government no longer provides. Although the service was intended to provide driver's license renewal reminders, you can also use it to remind you of the expiration of your License to Carry Firearms.
