UPDATED: Sharon High Sports Round-Up: Tennis Teams Perfect Through 6

And Ultimate Disc A-team scores 13 straight goals.

 

Both Sharon High School tennis teams could clinch a state tournament spot on Monday.

Both Eagles squad improved to 6-0 after defeating visiting Stoughton, 5-0, Thursday.

Eight wins would qualify Sharon for the state tourney. The Sharon teams play North Attleboro today (girls at home at 3:45 p.m., boys at North at 4 p.m.) and Franklin on Monday (girls on the road at 4 p.m., boys at home at 3:45 p.m.).

Against Stoughton, Sharon freshman Peter Hu won at first singles, 6-0, 6-0. Junior Jake Steinberg won at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. And senior Aditya Puttigampala won at third singles, 6-1, 6-0.

At first doubles, the team of senior co-captain Eric Bloom and freshman Grant Barron won, 6-0, 6-0. And at second doubles, the team of senior Ben Gilman and junior Josh Dobbin won, 6-3, 6-1.

Meanwhile, at Deborah Sampson Park, the Sharon girls also defeated Stoughton.

The Sharon's girls tennis team won against Stoughton 5-0.

At first singles, senior tri-captain Emily Hu, won 7-6, 6-2.

At second singles, junior Faina Volf won, 6-0, 6-0. Volf has lost only six games over her six matches this season.

At third singles, junior Jessica Ferris won, 6-2, 6-0.

At first doubles, senior tri-captain Alannah Waisel and classmate Rachel Bashein won, 6-4, 7-6.

And at second doubles, sophomore Angela Zhang and junior Grace Wang won, 7-6, 5-7, 6-3.

 

The Sharon High School Ultimate Disc A-team scored 13 straight goals, breaking a 2-2 tie and defeating host Milton Academy, 15-2, today.

Sharon's four 2011 Division 1 All-Stars -- seniors Sam D'Arcy, Sam Kutana, Aaron Langley and Jonah Kurman-Faber -- played together for the first time this season.

D'Arcy had 2 goals and 4 D's, Kutana had 2 goals and 3 assists and Kurman-Faber had 1 goal and 4 assists for the Bad Clams (4-2).

The Sharon A- and B-teams host Oliver Ames at 4 p.m. Friday at the East Elementary School.
