Sharon High Mock Trial Team Claims Another Win
Sharon is one win away from the state tournament's single-elimination phase.
The Sharon High School mock trail team is one win away from advancing in a state tournament.
Sharon defeated Westwood on Tuesday for its second preliminary round win the 27th annual Mock Trial Program presented by the Massachusetts Bar Association. The Brockton District Court hosted this contest.
Sharon defeated Needham in its first contest, on Jan. 23. Sharon faces Wayland next Wednesday.
"We'll represent the defendant, and Wayland the plaintiff," Sharon team adviser Tom Sanborn said today.
"If we defeat Wayland, we will enter the single-elimination phase of the state tournament."
More than 100 schools statewide are competing this season. Students will square off in a simulated courtroom, with more than 100 lawyers volunteering as coaches and judges, the association has said.
The state championship is March 23 in the Great Hall at Boston's Faneuil Hall.
Besides Sharon, local high schools competing are: Bishop Feehan, Canton, Dover-Sherborn, Franklin, Mansfield and Oliver Ames.
