Sharon Business Helps Mind, Body, Spirit

Enlightened Earth Healing Wellness Center holds grand opening Sunday.

A Sharon business that officially opens Sunday will share holiday spirit while helping visitors strengthen their mind, body and spirit.

The Enlightened Earth Healing Wellness Center will introduce itself to Sharon with a seasonal party and holiday food drive from 2 to 5 p.m. at 210 North Main St. The food drive runs throughout December. Visitors bringing a food item to the open house will receive 10 percent off a session.

Licensed massage therapist Missy Ward, life coach Marggi Shechanah and naturopathic doctor Julie Wiener have formed the business, in the office building near the intersection of North Main and Canton streets. Ward opened here in June and Shechanah on Nov. 1, and Wiener will start after Jan. 1.

"When I started here, part of my vision was to have a full body wellness center," Ward says.

"When I say 'full body,' I'm not just necessarily talking about the physical body, but everything."

The office overlooks Sawmill Pond, which will complement the work there by allowing the sessions to bring in "the earth, and the peace and quiet that that can offer, in an area where there's so much going on around you," says Ward, a licensed massage therapist for the past 15 years.

"When I saw the view with the (pond), it sort of made sense to me," she says.

Sharon also made sense for the business in a broader way.

"It's just outside of Boston. I think many of the people in and around this area probably commute into Boston. And that's stressful," Ward says.

"What's the saying? 'Commuting takes years off a person's life.' I think it's a good starting point to put years back into a person's life."

Having a massage therapist, a life coach and a naturopathic doctor in the same office isn't very common, "although I think it is becoming more common," Ward says.

Shechanah says she has been a certified life coach for two years. She was in social work for about 10 years before that.

Upon meeting Ward at a networking event, working together "was just a natural" decision, Shechanah says.

Shechanah says she specializes in transitions coaching, "really helping people connect with their own wisdom in order to use the time as an opportunity to create new directions for themselves if they want, and just really clarify their goals."

Wiener, meanwhile, "oversees a person's full health in a very natural way," Ward says.

Wiener says she has practiced naturopathic medicine for the past 12 years. She and her family recently moved to Sharon.

The work by Ward and Shechanah is "very synergistic with what I do," Wiener says.
