Sharon Boys Hoop Clips Falmouth in Finale

The host Eagles won, 63-55.

The Sharon High School varsity boys basketball team ended its season Wednesday against a visiting Falmouth team that was 18-1.

And the Eagles won, 63-55.

"It was a great way to end the season," Sharon head coach Bruce Jackman said.

"They played very well. Sometimes, you get a season like this where you're 5-14. You could easily say, 'To heck with it.'"

Sharon led, 32-25, at halftime, partly through a 12-0 run in the first quarter.

Falmouth cut the lead to as low as three, 52-49, midway through the fourth quarter. But the Eagles sandwiched three-pointers by sophomore guards Brian Mukasa and James Fritzson around a basket by senior tri-captain and center Sam D'Arcy to rebuild the lead to 11, 60-49.

Mukasa led Sharon with 22 points, 17 in the first half. D'Arcy had 16, 11 in the second half. Fritzson added 11.

The Clippers, meanwhile, got 17 from Damien Reid. However, Sharon held Andrew McGill, "one of the best players on the South Shore," to 8, Jackman noted.

"I don't think anybody's done that all year long," he said.

"(Junior forward) Ian Beach did a fantastic job on him."
