Sharon Begins Advertising for New DPW Office Trailer
Voters approved the funding at the annual town meeting.
Sharon officials have begun advertising for a new, larger Department of Public Works office trailer, which voters funded at the May annual town meeting.
Bid documents for the 24 foot by 60 foot modular office trailer became available at the DPW building Monday, according to Sharon's website.
Bids are due by 1 p.m. June 14.
Voters at the May 8 annual town meeting session approved spending $110,000 "for the remodeling, reconstruction and making extraordinary repairs to public buildings" for the DPW, according to the warrant.
The new building will be twice the size of, and replace, the current, 20-year-old one behind the DPW building at 217R South Main St., the finance committee said in its recommendation to town meeting.
The existing trailer, which houses a number of offices, "is in deplorable condition; roof leaks, mold growing, and the space provided to the occupants is inadequate," the finance board wrote.
