A blue four-door sedan flipped over on Bay Road in Stoughton, trapping an elderly woman inside and injuring her, late Thursday afternoon.

The woman, who was driving the car, was taken to the Boston Medical Center after the 4:31 p.m. accident at 2000 Bay Road. She sustained multiple injuries, but they are not considered to be life-threatening, Stoughton Fire Capt. Bob O'Donnell said.

The car struck a roadside embankment and overturned, trapping the driver,  O'Donnell said.

Stoughton and Sharon firefighters extricated her, O'Donnell said.
