Stoughton Man Charged with Attempted Murder

Police arrested a Stoughton man for attempted murder, among other charges, after he allegedly attacked his parents the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 5, according to the Stoughton Police Log and the Stoughton Police Department Facebook Page.

Stoughton Police officers Robert Kuhn and John Lydstone arrested Brandon Hensley, 30, of Ethyl Way in Stoughton "for attacking his parents, including the choking of one of the victims," the department's Facebook page reports.

No Support for Pheeny's Island Article in Norton

Selectmen unanimously refused to support a petition article within the Oct. 29 Norton Annual Town Meeting Thursday by a 5-0 vote, saying the request to raise and appropriate an unspecified amount of money to purchase Pheeny’s Island would result in a dangerous precedent for the town.

The article, submitted by A. Brandt Henderson et al, proposes the town authorize the board of selectmen to acquire the island, the land owned by August M. and Manuel M. Ribiero, by purchase, gift, eminent domain, or otherwise.

DJ Henry's Family Files New Suit Against Mount Pleasant and Two Officers

A second lawsuit against police officers who responded to reports of a crowd outside a Thornwood bar and shot an Easton native attending Pace University  will be filed in federal court Oct. 12. 

Aaron Hess, a Pleasantville police officer, killed D.J. Henry on Oct. 17, 2010, shooting him from the hood of Henry's car as Henry was driving. He was not indicted by a Westchester County Grand Jury; the family filed a wrongful death lawsuit. The U.S. Justice Department is also investigating.

Michael Sussman, attorney for the Henry family, said the story coming out through depositions for the first lawsuit, which was filed against Hess and his employer the village of Pleasantville, drew a very different picture than that described by police right after the shooting.

Bank Robbed in Seekonk

Various sources reported a Friday morning bank robbery at the Citizens Bank in the Stop & Shop on Highland Avenue in Seekonk, not far from the East Providence border. The robbery took place during the 11 a.m. hour, sources say.
