Solar Project Eyed for 10.2 Acres Near Sharon's Route 1
The Sharon Conservation Commission will discuss the proposal Thursday night.
A solar project designed to generate electricity is eyed for vacant land off Route 1 in Sharon.
Green Renewable LLC of Norwalk, Conn. has proposed grading land at 8 Commercial St., toward installing "solar panels for the generation of
electricity at 8 and R Commercial Street," according to the latest Sharon Conservation Commission agenda.
The commission will hold a notice of intent public hearing at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Sharon Community Center.
Bildner Capital Corp. of Norwalk describes the Commercial Street property on its website as 10.2 acres and under "under development."
The Sharon Zoning Board of Appeals also will hold a public hearing on issues related to the project, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 25 at the Sharon Town Offices.
Commercial Street is located off Route 1 north, near Interstate 95, and just before Merchant Street.

Unused and undesirable land (such as landfills) is perfect for solar panels. I am unfamiliar with this location so don't know if it can be used for other purposes but I am glad it is at least being considered for solar. The incentives in Massachusetts are very advantageous right now and whatever the size, purchased panels should pay for themselves in about 5 years.
