On 9/11 Anniversary, World Trade Center Survivor Shares Poem
Sharon resident David Rubinowitz wrote 'Reflections' days after the terrorist attacks.
Exactly 10 years ago today, Sharon resident David Rubinowitz was working at Morgan Stanley, on the 74th floor of World Trade Center Tower 2.
"I was at my desk when the Tower 1 was hit and made it down to the lobby level of Tower 2 when my building was impacted that Tuesday morning," says Rubinowitz, who moved to Sharon three years ago.
"I wrote the poem below later that week and after 10 years I would like to share it."
Reflections
Mountains sway gently beneath blue skies.
Reflections of America. Icons of the World.
Roars of thunder crash among the valleys.
Time stops.
Like monarch butterflies with starched wings they fall through the heavens.
Innocent consumed.
Helpless, Desperate, Fighting for air.
Thoughts of those we love and loved.
Fire, Fuel, Insanity engulfs us.
Mesmerized,
Images burn deeply into our souls.
Shattered like mirrors, minds, bodies.
Hills of Pain, Suffering, Death.
For those we remember and never met.
For those that suffered,
For those consumed,
For those that fight to live.
Forced forward. Forced to focus.
While our reflections bend and twist.
Searching, Waiting, Hoping.
We look to the peaks
To find something greater than ourselves.
We find each other.

Thanks Dave for sharing this. Such a powerfully charged event, the changes, the introspection.
So many visions, memories, thoughts and emotions are evoked.
Again thanks Dave.

Marcos,
Rick merely is moving to Fridays, starting this week. I think more readers will see him there than they are on Saturdays.
