No Injuries After Car Backs Into Sharon Home's Porch

The incident happened on Glendale Road.

A driver and their passengers escaped injury after their car backed across Sharon's Glendale Road and struck a neighbor's porch, Fire Chief James Wright said.

The driver backed out of the driveway at 93 Glendale, off North Main Street, "and for whatever reason, backed across the street and accidentally ran into the porch" at 90 Glendale, Wright said.

"Evidently, they missed the brake, or whatever the case may be," he said.

Wright said three people were supposedly in the vehicle.

All of them were out of the car, "waiting on the side," when firefighters arrived, Wright said.

The fire department received the call about the incident at 3:29 p.m., fire officials said.

"The building was shifted -- it's on pylons, so it snapped one corner. The building inspector (Joe Kent) is having them have it shored up before the car is pulled," Wright said.

The porch is unlikely to come down, he noted.

"How they missed all those trees and everything, I don't know," Wright added.

Is that why a helicopter was circling over the neighborhood this afternoon?
