Mother Nature Moves Sharon's Earth Day Plans
Organizers move the celebration to Saturday because rain is expected Sunday.
Sharon's Earth Day Celebration has moved to Saturday because Mother Nature has other plans for Sunday.
The Sustainable Sharon Coalition and the Sharon Friends of Conservation have rescheduled the event to noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, coalition member Nancy Fyler said today. The location remains Sharon Center, between the Sharon Public Library and the First Congregational Church of Sharon.
Rain is expected Sunday, the original date, Fyler said.
The National Weather Service in Taunton is forecasting one-quarter to one-half inch of rain Sunday, and another 1 to 2 inches Sunday night, for Sharon, according to the agency's website.
In contrast, Saturday looks mostly sunny.
Sharon's Earth Day Celebration will include about 15 to 20 vendors with tables, including The Home Depot, Whole Foods Market, Shaw's Supermarket and Ward's Berry Farm, as well as local nonprofits, Fyler says.
Two bands will perform: The Mighty Silverbacks, "an older rock 'n' roll band," Fyler says, and Skatana, a band featuring high school students.
