Lightning Strikes Twice In Sharon On Saturday

Here are the other highlights of the Sharon Police log.

 

Lightning struck twice in Sharon on Saturday morning.

The morning thunderstorm generated a report at 9:27 a.m. of a lightning strike at Walpole Street and Old Post Road, according to the Sharon Police log. And at 10:50 a.m., someone reported lightning struck a tree on Essex Road.

Meanwhile, police arrested six people -- four for operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs -- over the past two weeks.

The OUI arrests happened as follows: Sunday, July 10 at 2:56 a.m., at North Main Street and Rhodes Avenue; Saturday, July 16 at 3:13 a.m., at Bayberry Road at North Main Street; Saturday, July 16 at 7:45 p.m., on South Walpole Street; and Sunday, July 17 at 1:28 a.m., on Pond Street.

In the Pond Street incident, police had received an E-911 call reporting a motor vehicle had crashed into their yard.

The other two arrests were: Wednesday, July 13 at 8:21 p.m., arrested an adult at North Main Street and Bay Road. No charges were listed in the log; and Thursday, July 21 at 2:51 p.m., police arrested an adult on a warrant.

On Sunday, July 10 at 1:46 a.m., someone complained about noise on Beach Street.

At 12:16 p.m., someone reported a motor vehicle damaged by a potted plant on Grapeshot Road.

At 12:59 p.m., someone reported a tire in the breakdown lane at Route 1 and Interstate 95 Exit 9.

At 7:38 p.m., police notified NStar of a power outage on Huckleberry Lane.

At 10 p.m., someone reported fireworks in the area of Maskwonicut and North Main streets.

On Monday, July 11 at 6:45 a.m., Sharon Police assisted the State Police with a motor vehicle accident with no personal injuries at Route 1 and I-95 Exit 9.

At 9:06 a.m., someone reported motor vehicles parked on the sidewalk on King Philip Road.

At 8:07 p.m., someone reported windows were broken on a Bradford Avenue porch.

At 9:52 p.m., someone reported vandalism to a motor vehicle on Bay Road.

On Tuesday, July 12 at 11:42 a.m., someone reported finding pants on the side of the road on East Foxboro Street.

At 5:24 p.m., someone reported finding a board and nails in the roadway on Maskwonicut Street.

On Wednesday, July 13 at 2:23 a.m., someone reported that an outside gathering on Old Post Road was too noisy.

At 8:57 a.m., someone reported a motor vehicle accident with property damage on Avalon Drive at Norwood Street.

At 9:11 a.m., someone reported a gutter company vehicle was parked on the sidewalk on North Main Street.

At 11:14 a.m., someone asked the animal control officer to look at a snake on Lantern Lane.

At 1:58 p.m., school officials reported the swim dock on Beach Street was moved.

At 3:31 p.m., someone reported a motor vehicle accident with no injuries on Bay Road. No report was filed.

At 5:28 p.m., someone reported weather-related flooding at Wolomolopoag Street at Foxfire Drive.

At 6:04 p.m., someone reported vandalism to a mailbox on Billings Street.

At 7:34 p.m., someone reported a case of identity theft.

At 7:45 p.m., Sharon Police notified the Department of Public Works of a branch across the road at High Street and Summit Avenue.

At 9:10 p.m., someone reported hearing gunshots or fireworks in the Richards Avenue area.

At 11:03 p.m., someone reported a large tree limb down at Ames and Cottage streets.

At 11:14 p.m., someone reported a projectile went through a bedroom window on Atlas Road.

On Thursday, July 14 at 6 a.m., someone reported graffiti on the "Welcome to Sharon" sign at North Main Street and Nasir Ahmad Road.

At 9:46 a.m., someone reported a minor motor vehicle accident with no injuries at Bay Road and Bayberry Lane.

At 12:28 p.m., someone reported a wire was down on Deerfield Road.

At 4:53 p.m., someone reported a minor motor vehicle accident with no injuries on Suffolk Road.

At 7:57 p.m., someone on Laurel Road reported receiving suspicious mail.

On Friday, July 15 at 10:06 a.m., police reported a very minor motor vehicle accident on Edge Hill Road at Norwood Street.

At 1:53 p.m., someone reported a motor vehicle accident with property damage on South Main at Wolomolopoag streets.

At 3:19 p.m., someone reported a motor vehicle accident with property damage on South Main Street.

At 4:15 p.m., someone reported a motor vehicle accident with property damage on High Plain at Norwood streets.

At 9:14 p.m., someone reported gunshot-like sounds coming from the Deerfield Road area.

At 9:46 p.m., someone reported a strong, campfire-like smell coming from Bluff Head Road.

At 10:03 p.m., Sharon Police assisted the fire department with a strong smoke odor in the South Walpole Street area.

On Saturday, July 16 at 3:05 a.m., someone reported an object was thrown at a Williams Road house.

At 8:49 a.m., Sharon Police assisted a citizen with an egged house/car on Montaup Road.

At 9:33 a.m., Sharon Police assisted a citizen with an egged car on Aspen Road.

At 11:51 a.m., someone reported a tractor-trailer unit took down a wire on Gunhouse Street.

At 6:57 p.m., someone reported tagging on the former Sacred Heart School property and the Sharon Dog Park, on East Foxboro Street.

At 9:57 p.m., someone reported a motor vehicle accident on Highland Avenue. No report was filed.

On Sunday, July 17 at 1:52 a.m., someone complained about dogs barking all night on Belcher Street.

At 7:48 a.m., someone reported finding two dogs.

At 7:58 a.m., someone reported an injured raccoon at Hixson Farm Road and North Main Street.

At 9:44 a.m., someone on High Plain Street reported past damage to a motor vehicle.

At 11:20 p.m., someone reported a disabled motor vehicle blocking Capen Hill Road.

On Monday, July 18 at 6:13 a.m., someone turned in a wallet they found.

At 6:55 a.m., someone reported a motor vehicle accident with property damage on Wolomolopoag Street.

At 7:21 a.m., someone reported a motor vehicle accident on King Philip Road. No report was filed.

At 2:39 p.m., someone reported an attempted burglary/break-in on Maskwonicut Street.

At 6:47 a.m., someone reported water pouring out of a South Main Street building.

At 7:14 a.m.,  someone reported a motor vehicle accident on South Main Street. No report was filed.

At 11:44 a.m., someone on Edge Hill Road reported a break-in at their home.

At 12:08 p.m., someone reported wires down on South Main Street.

At 7:35 p.m., someone on Pleasant Street reported a bicycle was stolen from a garage.

At 8:15 p.m., someone on Arboro Drive reported their ATM card was compromised.

At 9:34 p.m., Stoughton Police reported a motor vehicle accident on Bay Road. No report was filed.

On Wednesday, July 20 at 4:34 p.m., someone reported a motor vehicle was stolen from the MBTA commuter rail station.

At 5:20 p.m., someone reported that motor vehicles were broken into at the MBTA commuter rail station.

At 6:07 p.m., someone reported finding a wallet behind the FedEx drop box on Pond Street.

At 6:14 p.m., someone reported a white male with a sign, "Will work for food" at Cobb's Corner and North Main Street.

At 7:26 p.m., someone on South Pleasant Street reported a house was egged.

At 8:28 p.m., Sharon Police checked on a bicycle on Pleasant Street. The bicycle matched the description of one reported stolen, police said.

At 9:31 p.m., someone reported all the streetlights on Atlas Road were out.

At 11:56 p.m., someone reported a loud group in a South Main Street parking lot.

On Thursday, July 21 at 5:20 p.m., someone reported a jet ski was too close to the shore on Beach Street.

At 7:40 p.m., someone reported an injured rabbit on Leonard Road.

On Friday, July 22 at 6:19 p.m., someone reported debris on the bridge at North Main and Maskwonicut streets.

On Saturday, July 23 at 12:24 a.m., someone on Belcher Street reported a dog had been barking for three hours.

At 10:18 p.m., someone reported a group was gathering at Memorial Park Beach.
