Letter to the Editor: Sharon Veterans Agent Thanks Flag Day Attendees

Next year's program is on June 14, 2013.

To the Editor:

Acknowledgement is given to all who participated and supported the Town of Sharon, Mass. Flag Day Program held Thursday evening, June 14 at the Sharon Veterans' Memorial Park.

Two crew members assigned to the U.S.S. Constitution augmented the program by speaking about the history of the U.S.S. Constitution and the War of 1812. They were very impressive reminding us of some of our history. They were Petty Officer 1st Class Scott Bartlett and Seaman Bill Gillaspie.

Designated boy scouts of Boy Scout Troop 95 opened and closed the program by raising and lowering the United States flag.

Cub Scout Pack 95 members led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Patriotic music was provided by various Sharon students. They were Sharon High School Select Choir, Laura Frye, director; Sharon High School Band, Tim McGee director; and Cottage Street School Choir, Lisa Gilman, director.

The Sharon Board of Selectmen Flag Day Proclamation was read by Chairman William Heitin.

Facility arrangements were conducted by the Sharon Recreation Department and the Department of Public Works.

With the collective involvement of those mentioned above, this program was very memorable to those who attended.

You are all invited to the 2013 Flag Day Program, to be held June 14, 2013.
