Fire Strikes Former Stoughton Machine Shop
Sharon firefighters among those responding.
A fire at a former machine shop on Southworth Court in Stoughton caused moderate damage to the front corner of the brick building early Sunday evening.
The structure is now used as storage for building materials by its owner, Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff said.
Sharon and Canton firefighters assisted Stoughton at the scene.
The fire at the end of Southworth Court, off Canton Street, started around 6 p.m. on a large stack of pallets very close to the building, before spreading to the roof area and then the interior, Dolloff said.
The fire's cause is under investigation, he said.
One firefighter dealt with heat exhaustion, but there were no other medical incidents or injuries, Dolloff said.
A group of Stoughton firefighters arrived at the fire immediately after dealing with a brush fire on a half acre of land behind Great Scott Kennels on Washington Street in Stoughton near the Easton line.
