UPDATE: Family Claims Concrete from Sharon Overpass Damaged Car

A windshield was damaged due to the concrete, the family said; state officials inspected the area as a result.

A family from Billerica this week said that while driving on Rte. I-95 in Sharon, concrete from an overpass fell and damaged their vehicle's windshield.

The family was driving through Sharon on Sunday afternoon, when a piece of concrete allegedly fell from the South Walpole Street bridge on Rte. 95 northbound, according to a report on CBS Boston

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation told WHDH that while it checked the bridge for debris, there was no evidence of any in the area.

Eric Hooper, Sharon's Superintendent of Public Works, said that while Rte. 95 bridges are under MassDOT responsibility, he has neither heard nor seen any reports of damage. (Editor's Note: Hooper's input was added to this story as of 6:30 p.m. Thursday.)

Sharon Patch will provide more information as it becomes available.
